Feed and Forage Analyzer

Achieve higher standards in feed production

FOSS feed and forage analyzers, based on the successful NIRSystem II platform, offer fast, reliable and accurate analysis of animal feed, feed ingredients, pet food, and forages. Seen by many as the industry standard, they are used throughout the animal feed industry to control and segregate incoming raw material, control consistency in feed production and ensure finished products are in line with the demands of customers and authorities.

stable and robust calibrations

CasesMaking stable and robust calibrations

The right calibration strategy and a focus on making robust calibrations are cornerstones in an effective and reliable NIR operation.

NIR technology

Precision Near Infrared (NIR) technology

Feed and forage testing equipment uses NIR technology with reflectance measurements in the wavelength range of 400-2500nm or 1100-2500nm. NIR analysis is a spectroscopic technique, which makes use of the naturally occurring electromagnetic spectrum.

The near-infrared area has proved to be the ideal spectral area to make natural product and chemical property measurements of liquid, solid, slurry or gaseous samples.

NIR technology-based products that make use of dispersive grating based monochromators have an advantage of giving the user the highest level of signal-to-noise available in any commercially available NIR product. The advantage of this boost in performance is better precision in an application and the capability to measure high scattering and multi-phase matrices.

Versatile solutions for feed and forage analysis

FOSS solutions allow you to analyze a range of animal nutrition samples including whole, fresh and ground samples with no preparation. Cups for handling liquid samples and slurries such as oils, molasses and others are available.

Greater control for improved processes

Fast multiple-parameter results allow you to control raw material intake and all critical points in the animal feed production process based on accurate analytical data rather than book values.

Monitoring and support via the internet

The RINA software suite supports FOSS NIR instruments. This internet-based network connects individual instruments to a control center where NIR experts remotely monitor and perform management tasks allowing the local user to carry out routine analysis operations without having to worry about instrument performance or reliability of results.

Available for visible and NIR range

FOSS Feed and Forage analyzers are available in two models, model 5000 for the NIR range 1100 to 2500 nm, or model 6500 with two detectors making it possible to measure both visible and the NIR range from 400 to 2500 nm.
